Tidy Tank Tips

Have your septic tank pumped & system evaluated on average every 2 to 3 years by a licensed septic maintenance specialist.
Practice water conservation. High efficiency washing machines, low flush toilets and water saving shower heads are recommended.
Divert gutters, sump pump discharge and water softener discharges away from your septic system if possible.
Look for cleaning products and detergents labeled “septic safe”. Avoid excessive use of chlorine bleach. Oxygen bleaches such as Oxyclean are a better choice for systems with an aerobic unit.
Install lint traps on washer discharge.
Discard cooking grease, cigarette butts, coffee grounds, dental floss, diapers, kitty litter, feminine products, condoms, paper towels, Kleenex, napkins, cleaning wipes, etc. in the trash can!
Do not drive heavy equipment or park on a septic system.
Do not build anything, including above ground swimming pools, over a septic system.
Avoid garbage disposals and chlorine tablets for the toilets.
Use only “septic safe” toilet paper. If you do not see “septic safe” on the label; do not use it.

NSF International has established that Quilted Northern is fully acceptable for septic tanks according to NSF Protocol P150.

For standard septic systems. Bath tissue contains at least 35%. Post- consumer Recycled Fiber. Meets EPA Comprehensive Procurement Guidelines.
